Veterans History Project Event November 4 in Waterloo

The office of Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) will host a Library of Congress “Veterans History Project” event in honor of Veterans Day for the fifth year in a row. The event will take place on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. CT at the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum. The museum is located in the Grout Museum District and the address is 503 South St.

Last Tenderloin Dinner of the season at the American Legion

The last tenderloin Dinner for this year will be held on Thursday, October 27, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.The menu includes a Tenderloin, French Fries, Cole Slaw and a Dessert. The cost $15.00.The Legion is located at 105 N. R Ave. in Vinton. 

Friends of Center Point Library Book Sale

On Saturday, November 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Friends of the Center Point Library will be holding a “Christmas is Coming” Book Sale. The sale will take place in the library community room, 720 Main St. Books available include mostly adult hardcover fiction, especially mysteries and best sellers - $1. There will also be woodworking magazines for a freewill donation.

Weekly Guided Journaling at the Library

The Vinton Public Library will be hosting a Weekly Guided Journaling session at the library. Beginning on Friday, November 4 starting at noon, bring your journal and pen (extras available upon request) and start the process with Library Director, Kelly Henkle.The Vinton Public Library is located at 510 2nd Ave., in Vinton. 

Vinton Parks and Rec plans Spooktacular Saturday, October 29

Come to the Courthouse on Saturday, October 29, 2022 beginning at 10:00 a.m. There will be decorate a pumpkin, Halloween games, costume parade through downtown for children grade school and under. Stay for our costume parade through downtown at 10:45 a.m.The day isn't completed until you stop at the Skate Center from 7-9:00 p.m. for a costume and skate party and ghostly glow mini golf!Anyone who wears a Halloween costume (more than just a mask) will get a $1.

Fifty-first Dysart Holiday Bazaar November 12, proceeds benefit Union Community

The non-profit Dysart Development Corporation (DDC) will host the community’s fifty-first annual Dysart Bazaar, Saturday, November 12, 2022. Open to the public at no charge, the event features a wide variety of artists selling their exclusive handmade crafts and homemade baked goods at the handicapped-accessible Dysart, Iowa, Community Building, at 418 Main Street, from 9 a.

Benton County Cattleman's Annual Banquet, November 19

We hope this post finds everyone having a safe and successful harvest. The 2022 Annual Banquet is Saturday, November 19th at the Turner Hall in Keystone. Social is at 5:30 pm followed by a meal at 6:00 pm.Bobby's Grocery and BBQ will be catering the banquet again this year and we're looking forward to another wonderful meal. An auction will follow the meal as in previous years and proceeds will go to youth programs in our county.
